This Privacy Policy explains how Arrakis Studios (“Synapse,” “we,” “us”) handles information in connection with the Synapse iPhone app (the “App”). By using the App you agree to the practices described here.
Synapse runs on your iPhone. There is no account, no login, and we never ask for your name, email, or phone number. Your training history and your cognitive index are stored in a local database on your device. We collect a small amount of pseudonymous usage and crash data to keep the App working and to improve it, and analytics are collected automatically.
Your complete training history and settings are stored locally on your iPhone. We do not operate a server that backs up this database. It contains:
Summary training metrics are sent to our analytics provider as described below; this is not a backup of your training history. If you delete the App, its local database is removed. We cannot restore that database.
To understand how the App is used and to improve it, we collect usage events through PostHog (a product-analytics provider) — for example: a session was completed, a screen was viewed, a paywall was shown.
We use AppsFlyer to measure which marketing channels lead to installs, training activity and subscriptions. We request Apple's tracking permission before starting this measurement.
If you allow tracking, AppsFlyer may receive advertising and vendor identifiers, a pseudonymous app/customer identifier, device and network information, and install and limited engagement events. RevenueCat can send verified subscription and revenue events to AppsFlyer. Enabled advertising partners may receive attribution and conversion data to measure campaign performance.
If you refuse or restrict tracking, we disable advertising/vendor identifier collection, enable AppsFlyer anonymisation, block partner sharing and remove the RevenueCat-to-AppsFlyer identifier. Limited anonymised measurement and Apple's aggregate attribution may remain available. We do not send your onboarding answers, cognitive scores or detailed training results to AppsFlyer.
You can change tracking permission in iPhone Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking. We recheck permission when you return to the App. Changes to RevenueCat's server-side sharing take effect after the App syncs; permission changes cannot recall events already delivered.
If the App crashes or hits an error, we may receive a report through Sentry to help us diagnose and fix the problem. Reports may include device model, OS version, performance information, and technical error details. We do not attach your training database, screenshots, or the persistent identifier used for PostHog and RevenueCat.
Synapse offers auto-renewing subscriptions. Purchases are processed by Apple and managed through RevenueCat, which validates your subscription receipt and tells the App whether your subscription is active.
The App relies on these providers, each of which processes limited data as described above under its own privacy policy:
| Provider | Purpose | What it receives |
|---|---|---|
| Apple App StorePolicy ↗ | App distribution & billing | Purchase and subscription, handled by Apple |
| RevenueCatPolicy ↗ | Subscription entitlement & revenue attribution | Pseudonymous app/device identifier, subscription status, Apple attribution token and, with tracking permission, AppsFlyer identifier |
| AppsFlyerPolicy ↗ | Marketing attribution | Install, engagement and permitted subscription events, device/network information and permitted identifiers |
| PostHogPolicy ↗ | Product analytics | Usage events tied to a random identifier |
| SentryPolicy ↗ | Crash/error diagnostics | Crash and device-technical data |
We do not control, and are not responsible for, these providers' own privacy practices.
Where the UK GDPR or EU GDPR applies, we rely on our legitimate interest in operating and improving the App for analytics and diagnostics, and on performance of a contract with you for providing subscriptions. For questions or requests about this processing, contact us using the details below.
Your training data is stored on your device and protected by your iPhone's built-in security. Data sent to our service providers is encrypted in transit. No method of storage or transmission is 100% secure, but we work to protect your information.
Synapse is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13 (or the minimum age in your country). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.
The App and its service providers may process data in countries other than where you live, including the United States. By using the App you understand that data may be processed in these locations.
We may update this Policy from time to time. We will revise the “Last updated” date above, and material changes will be reflected in the App or on this page.
